Got a call today and we will just say it was a good call. I have an interview next Thursday with the company from my previous post. So, I know before I said I was worried that I didn’t have the amount of web experience that they are searching for well….I don’t think that is not longer a worry. They said “You are getting this job due to your passion, not for your previous web experience” So the company that recommended me must have put in a really good word for me. So along with that and my ability to learn these things rather quick are really playing a HUGE role, which I couldn’t be happier about. I love that a company is looking at the passion of a person instead of just focusing whole hearted on their previous skills. I realize previous experience is important but passion is just as important, if not more important. You can’t teach passion.
So here is the latest. I am up for a Web Design position in Lancaster and needless to say I am on pins and needles waiting to hear back. I am the only candidate they are looking at as of right now which, I’m looking at as a positive thing. The other thing that has my hopes high is I was recommended to them by another company that I had previously interviewed with for pretty much the exact same position and they loved my work. The position also entails print work which, I love to do and it’s an area I am comfortable in and can do rather well. What worries me is I am not as “comfortable” with coding as I think they would like. It is a Junior Web Designer position but I still feel like they are wanting someone with a more advanced knowledge of coding. Which I completely understand. On a positive note I am good at learning pretty quick, especially when it comes to this sort of area. This would be a major positive advancement in my career because this would give me the opportunity I’ve been waiting for to actually do what I went to school for and what I love to do. I would also be able to start building a real portfolio unlike what I am doing now. This is a big deal to me quite honestly, I have been dying to get into a job where I am doing what I love and working within a creative environment with people around me that love what they do just as much as me. People who understand how my mind works because theirs works the same way. We all know a designers brain functions a lot differently than a non-designers. We view the world around us in a much different way.
So that’s the latest news. If you have any feedback or input, you’re more than welcome to leave it in my ask box
